Mabira forest reserve is the largest forest in Uganda covering over 300 sq km located in Buikwe district along the Kampala- Jinja highway.  The forest is home to over 300 species of birds, 312 tree species and up to 6 different primate species including the rare endangered grey cheeked mangabey monkey which can only be found in Mabira.

Day 1- Transfer from Kampala to Mabira forest
Our tour guide will pick you up from your hotel/ residence early in the morning to begin you journey to Eastern Uganda. Mabira forest is located 56 km away from the city and so ot will take us around 1 hour and 20 minutes to get there, along the way you will enjoy the scenes of rolling hills and locals on foot.  Once you reach the forest, check in at the Eco tourism office and a guide will be assigned to you to lead you on a guided nature walk in the forest. The well developed network of walking trails allows you to easily navigate through and encounter different species of trees, birds and primates. Bird species you may spot include the endangered Nahan’s Francolin, Grey parrot, Cassin spinetail,  forest woodhoope, Dwarf kingfisher, African pied kingfisher, Blue throated roller, hairy breasted barbet, African shrike-fly catcher, yellow throated tinker bird etc. Primates you may spot include the endangered grey cheeked mangabey, red tailed monkey, vervet monkeys among others
Return to Kampala and transfer to your lodge/ hotel/ residence.
